Teamwork of SP Energy Networks & Dutton’s praised.

“I would like to place on record my thanks to Steve and his team at Middlewich for all their very hard work in resolving the issues faced by the residents of Ascol Drive and Cranage Villas.

As you will know there has been a significant issue over the years with the electricity supply outages although I note that SP tried to resolve it some time ago… However the issue had become untenable.

Following our negotiations and the subsequent resolution, which I note has included over engineering and going further than the minimal required. It is important to note Steve and his team’s efforts to resolve the issues, which has included negotiations with a variety of landowners, two local authorities, highways and four pipeline owners which was seriously convoluted. Steve and his team have shown, dedication, tenacity, high standards, technical know-how and are a credit to SP Energy. This praise is also shared with Duttons your contractors who worked in some atrocious weather to keep everything on track. There were some wrinkles which you would expect with this project but we were kept well informed.

As you will know I have high standards so this isn't just a thanks!...”

“10 out of 10 FOR SERVICE”

Dutton Contractors recently undertook a new service connection in Winsford on behalf of SP Energy Networks (SPEN).

A follow up call to the Client by SPEN to check the quality of service elicited the following response:

“Further to our conversation yesterday, I have now spoken to our site manager to get his feedback on the connection.

The answers to your specific questions are:

  1. No they [Dutton’s site teams] didn’t ring before they arrived but Andy says that was probably because they were there before him and were waiting when he got there at 7.30am!
  2.  Yes, they did see him before they left.
  3.  Andy was very pleased with the connection, it was all done efficiently and the works were left tidy, the tarmac was also replaced very quickly.
  4.  So 10 out of 10 for service I think!”

"I visited an 11kV Refurbishment project at Llwydiarth Hall Farm, Mid Wales today. The project is around 120km’s of 11kV overhead line across challenging terrain being delivered by Dutton Contractors Ltd. I thought it worth mentioning Dutton’s site supervisor, Aaron Tilly. Aaron is a brilliant customer service ambassador for both SPEN and Dutton Contractors Ltd. He’s personally visited every single land owner, explained what we are planning, the benefits and gained not just their agreement but their support. In addition to this he meets regularly with the local councillor, identified vulnerable customers and keeps the local Police Officer informed. A great example of how things should be done, thanks Aaron!"

"Since I work from home, I have been able to monitor the progress of having telegraph poles replaced on our land, as well as that of our neighbours, and the subsequent replacement of some extremely worn cable.

The purpose of this letter is to inform you of the somewhat exceptional conduct and performance of your subcontractors and would ask that you, as their client, make them aware that occasionally, satisfied customers will take the trouble of expressing their appreciation.

The locations of the poles were not the easiest to access and the team was given a free hand, such as the removal of some fencing, so that their vehicles could drive across the fields. I took it for granted that I would have to perform a clean-up operation afterwards.

From the outset, all the members of the team were polite and friendly; and the chargehand explained in detail exactly what work would be carried out and when I mention ‘the team’ because that is exactly how they worked, and their attention to safety was commendable.

They completed their task of replacing the wires on 28 th October, within the allocated time and on no occasion was any member of the team waiting for something to do. They even tidied up the line of the cable running down to the RCD of my house. Why, even when I provided them with a warm drink, it was taken ‘on the go’, meaning no stops for a break and a chat!

They will be returning shortly to extract the very old and decrepit poles but even at this juncture I can say that you have a first-class group of men who are well worth hanging on to.

An the ‘clean-operation’? Everything was left in a tidy state, and they even had the courtesy of returning to my house, after completing their work on my neighbour’s property, to say that they would complete the pole extraction exercise as soon as possible;- and to say goodbye. Truly, a credit to both you and their own employer!"

The various teams from Duttons – responsible for the removal of wiring, demolition, and the ground clearance and repair teams – have all been great to deal with, extremely courteous and very helpful.
